		<abstract>This short communication presents a solution for using color in an effective way to inspect objects automatically. Color is used as the primary information for the task, and it is represented initially by the Hue, Saturation, and Intensity (HIS) variables. It is proposed that color indexation algorithms can provide a real-time solution for demanding visual inspection tasks, such as classification of agricultural products for quality evaluation.</abstract>
